Your thoughts and emotions are also influenced by your personality. Understanding yourself will help you know why you hold certain values dear and why they align in the order they do. A simple yet revealing tool to shed light here is a personality test as it will mirror and reflect aspects of yourself you may have never considered.
Your personality involves an intricate interplay of individual differences in how we think, feel and behave, and involves individual differences between personality traits and how the combination of traits come from personality types.
To discover your personality traits, you can engage in an online test that unveils 16 key personality traits or factors known as the 16 Personality Factors Questionnaire at https://openpsychometrics.org/tests/16PF.php.
Another useful tool that will help you piece together the jigsaw of your personality is the Myers-Briggs-Type-Indicator, or MBTI. It will teach you about your likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, career preferences and compatibility with other people and is a journey through four primary scales, helping you discover yourself including: An Extrovert (E) or Introvert (I), more inclined towards Sensing (S) or Intuition (N), inclined towards Thinking (T) or Feeling (F) and leaning towards Judging (J) or Perceiving (P). Think of these scales as your unique prescription glasses for viewing the world. They reveal why you see things as you do, like a lens or frame of reference offering your personal perspective. Knowing your personality type helps you unlock the code to how you interpret the world around you. You can get your unique personality combination at:
In chapter 5 of my book “On Balconies and Dancefloors” I give you many examples of how to reveal your character’s unique tapestry using these tools. These will help you explore the biological components that has formed your temperament and personality and can be revealed using the above scientific tools.
